Katie Ellenberg joined St. Thomas’s music ministry as a cantor 20 years ago and is thrilled to be the new Liturgical Music Coordinator for St. Thomas and St. Clare parishes. Her involvement in church music ministry extends almost 40 years in various capacities. She is a Marquette University Graduate and studied voice at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and under the direction of Joanne Koehn, Director of the Great Lakes Opera Company. Katie, also known for founding and performing with Vita Voce, a woman’s trio, has shared her faith and love of music in many churches across the broader area, introducing a more contemporary style through praise and worship. She also had the privilege to go to Israel three times, where, as a soloist she led the music for pilgrims from around the world in churches throughout the Holy Land. In addition to her musical side, Katie, Principal and Head of Investment Operations & Portfolio Administration has worked at Geneva Capital Management for 27 years where she oversees the firms operational and trade processes. She and her husband Neal and two children, Trevor and Holly (STA graduates), have been parish members of St. Thomas for over 20 years and have been active in both the school and church in various ways throughout the years. Trevor and his fiancée Kourtney are planning a wedding in 2025 and are currently living in North Carolina. Holly is a senior at Marquette University where she is pursuing degrees in Education and Psychology. Neal, also a committed member of the music ministry, will continue to accompany on piano for both choir and cantor masses.

Music (Choirs, Cantors, Instrumentalists, Special Music)
Music is an essential part of each worship service at St. Clare and St. Thomas. Our musicians sing a variety of musical styles, including chants, motets, traditional church anthems, and contemporary music. And we offer many opportunities for Parishioners to share their musical talents with us. Becoming a part of the Music Ministry is a great way to deepen your faith.

Cantors
If you love to sing and can move others to prayer and worship, we always welcome new talent.

Adult Choir
The choir mainly ministers at 9:30 AM Sunday Mass at St. Clare and 11:15 AM Sunday Mass at St. Thomas and at all major parish celebrations from September through May. Rehearsals are once during the week and a short 30 minute rehearsal on Sunday morning just before Mass. This ministry is open to parishioners of high school age and above.

Instrumentalists
Can you play an instrument or have you always wanted to use your instrument to praise the Lord? We're always looking for instrumentalists to contribute to our music ministry.

Special Music
If you are interested in arranging special music for a wedding, baptism, funeral, or other worship celebration, please contact our music director.
